Back Creek – Ferndale Park

In the inner Eastern Melbourne suburb of Glen Iris there is a small park that is a part of an old creek.  This is Ferndale park. One moment you are in the leafy suburb, with cars and houses and European gardens.

Step across the road taking care of the cars and you are in the wild.

Then a little way down the creek you find the ducks. Make sure you click on a photo to enlarge all.

And a bit of wilderness.

And then back to suburbia.

  1. Google images say that it’s a Pacific Black Duck but I’m no expert on Australian birds. It’s a lovely photograph though, with everything in focus, especially his cunningly camouflaged feet.

  2. Very nice Magic Garden. The way you’ve described this it reminds me of the wardrobe in The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe.
