On a bend in the Yarra River, in the Yarra Bend Park, on the other side from the flying foxes (See Link) is the Studley Park Boathouse. This was built in 1863. You can hire boats, have coffee and cakes, or your wedding reception. Although you are only a short walk from the hustle and bustle you are transported to the Australian bush.
At the river bank you have some old boats to paddle in. Some people are more competent than others and this poor fellow had a lot of difficulty getting both oars to work at the same time. It seemed that each oar would only work if he looked at it.
And the river itself is worth the visit even if there was no tea house of paddling boats.
Now I don’t suppose I need to tell anyone – except maybe my dear old sister – that if you click on one of the pictures you will get an enlarged picture and a slide show. It is really quite amazing what you can do these days.
