I didn’t know how to take a shot of a mirage. I know now that I should have switched my camera to ‘manual’. I know that now – back then I was a bit puzzled because the camera had an internal hissy fit and couldn’t focus because there was obviously something there but it had no substance. So I panned around to the side where there was a solitary tree that was the same distance away as the house then I held the trigger down on first pressure and panned back. It was hot out on the red plain.

This is just the first of many. I took 1011 photos between Melbourne and Cairns and it will take me a while to get through them all.

It doesn’t look much on a phone but it is good on desktop.

  1. I will never forget the first time we saw this mirage in Australia. We couldn’t believe our eyes. It’s right up there with the Northern lights!

You did such a good job to capture this hot scene.
